Things to do This Month on The Islands of Guernsey

With yoga retreats, sporting events, artistic workshops, concerts and more on offer, 2026 is already in full swing in the Islands of Guernsey.

APRIL

1st - 30th: The Big Eat Food Festival

Throughout the month, the festival showcases four themed experiences, each with special events and bespoke festival menus created exclusively for April.

From the fresh air and adventure of The Great Outdoors, to meeting the people behind the produce in Meet the Locals, there’s something for every foodie to enjoy. Discover hidden flavours and wild ingredients with Foraging and Fine Dining, or experience French Connection, a celebration of French food culture featuring a range of events - including the Breton Market and La Grande Fromage Tour.

1st April - 14th June: Making an Honest Living - Exhibition

Making an Honest Living celebrates Guernsey’s growing community and the people who cultivate the island’s land. The exhibition highlights the skill and dedication behind local produce, honouring the growers who shape Guernsey’s food culture and agricultural heritage.

Guernsey-born painter and printmaker Emma Griffin began researching the island’s growing industry in 2023, inspired by a deep curiosity about her roots and the land that feeds the community. Since then, she has explored the stories, landscapes and labour that define Guernsey’s agricultural identity, bringing them together in a body of work that celebrates food, place and honest work.

1st - 12th April: Easter afternoon tea at The Old Government House Hotel

Celebrate Easter with a refined Afternoon Tea in the elegant surroundings of The Old Government House Hotel. Enjoy a seasonal selection of delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and preserves, and beautifully crafted Easter-inspired pastries, all perfectly paired with your choice of fine teas.

3rd - 6th April: EY Easter Running Festival 2026

Put your running skills to the test with the EY Easter Running Festival. The festival consists of four races, allowing participants to enter as many or as few races as they like.

The festival will be taking place from Friday 3 April – to Monday 6 April, and includes a 5km road race, 4.75-mile full course cross country, 4x1 mile relay race, and 10km road race.

Entries can be made on an individual basis or as part of a team of four runners, with prizes on offer for top-placed finishers.

4th - 5th April: Nature & Stars: Foraging Weekend

Immerse yourself in a weekend of connection with nature, coastal discovery and night-sky wonder. Presented in collaboration with Sark Island Events, Guernsey Seaweed and SASTROS, this two-day experience blends hands-on foraging with celestial exploration. Workshops include a Sensory Herbalism Foraging Workshop, Stargazing at Sark Observatory and Seaweed Foraging on Sark's Shores.

4th April: Sark Ostara Ceremony

Step into the magic of Ostara with an enchanting evening of spring energy, ritual creativity and stargazing. Celebrate the season of renewal with a unique blend of ceremony, craft and cosmic exploration.

11th April: The Dark Skies Dinner - Sark

Experience an unforgettable evening of fine food and celestial wonder on the world-famous Dark Skies Island of Sark. This exquisite outdoor dining event is crafted for those who savour beauty, flavour and magical moments after sunset.

12th April: Spring Artisan Market at the Guernsey Folk and Costume Museum

Join us for a Spring Artisan Market held in the beautiful courtyard of the Guernsey Folk & Costume Museum, nestled in the heart of Saumarez Park. This special event celebrates and supports local artisans in a truly charming heritage setting.

Browse a range of artisan stalls, enjoy homemade cakes and bakes, and relax with teas and coffees throughout the day. There will also be courtyard games for children, making it a fun and welcoming outing for all ages.

16th April: Traditional Spinning Demonstrations at the Folk & Costume Museum

Join our heritage spinners on the Courtyard at the Folk and Costume Museum for a hands-on demonstration.

Whether you’re curious about taking up a new hobby, eager to learn a traditional skill, or simply enjoy watching craftspeople at work, these free mornings offer a wonderful glimpse into the island’s textile heritage.

17th - 18th April: Herm Yoga Retreat with Katie Brock of Yoga Elements

This retreat is an open and safe space for beginners as well as those who are more experienced, including teachers. With more than 10 years' experience running retreats (and over 13 years' teaching experience), Katie and her team ensure a restful, restorative experience for all.

Optional treatments will be available, or you may choose to simply rest and restore in the beautiful grounds of the White House Hotel. Herm also has plenty of revitalising walks or some beautiful sea swimming spots.

17th April: An Evening with Harry Borden, at The Duke

Enjoy an evening and two‑course dinner with Harry Borden, one of the UK’s leading celebrity portrait photographers. Throughout the evening, Harry will share the stories behind these remarkable portraits, as well as insights into the personal projects that continue to inspire his creative journey. Your ticket also includes a two course meal and supports Guernsey Alzheimers Association.

18th April: Murder Mystery at the OGH

Step into the 5* Old Government House Hotel’s storied past as the "Murderous Minstrels" brings history to life with a bespoke murder mystery performance set within the iconic hotel...

Travel back to Guernsey in 1858, as Mr and Mrs Gardner welcome you to the opening of Gardner’s Old Government House Hotel. Join them for an evening of celebration in the grand dining room, where elegance meets intrigue.

Begin with drinks overlooking the sea, before taking your seat in the Regency for a beautifully crafted three-course dinner. As the evening unfolds, a crime will be committed… and it is up to you to uncover the truth.

Period dress is warmly welcomed, though never required. Simply bring your curiosity and prepare for a night of fine food, captivating storytelling and timeless mystery.

23rd April - 7th May: Guernsey Literary Festival

The Guernsey Literary Festival, which runs from from 23 April to 7 May, is now established as one of the biggest annual arts events in the Channel Islands, will feature more than 50 events, including a full education and community programme.

Coinciding with the National Year of Reading, the 2026 Festival brings together a richly varied programme of 80 events with access, connection and reading for pleasure at its heart 📚

26th April: Seafront Sunday - Eat, Drink and Be Local

St Peter Port's picturesque seafront becomes a busy market filled with local arts and crafts, produce, drinks & food on certain Sundays in the summer. Stroll along the seafront and enjoy the casual, friendly atmosphere.

28th April: Japanese Calligraphy Evening Workshop

Experience the beauty of the ancient art of Japanese calligraphy and produce your own hand drawn works using traditional methods. In this beginner-friendly session, you will learn where Kanji comes from and how it’s used today, try the essential tools of Shodo, practise basic brush strokes and create your own piece to take home.
