Birds and their song have captivated poets and composers throughout history, inspiring music that ranges from serene pastoral reflections to powerful allegories of the human condition. Join Octo Voces Guernsey on a musical journey through three millennia of avian-inspired texts, and discover how birds give voice to beauty and longing, sorrow and joy.
The programme includes compositions by old favourites such as Byrd, Weelkes and Stanford, alongside the vibrant new colours of contemporary composers including Bingham, Marsh and Panufnik. The concert culminates in the Guernsey première of Lucy Walker's brand new suite of part songs, Bird Raptures.
