Where to Eat Vegan on The Islands of Guernsey

Finding great plant-based food options when visiting small towns and communities can often be a struggle. The Islands of Guernsey have an array of restaurants offering vegan options - you just need to know where to go.

We have rounded up many of these options into one place to create a useful guide.

Cobo Tea Room

Cobo Tea Room is a favourite for many islanders at any time of year. Overlooking Cobo Bay on the West coast, they are a traditional family-run tearoom serving lunches, breakfasts, homemade cakes, freshly ground coffee and a wide range of quality teas in a 'proper' tea pot. As well as catering for gluten and dairy free requirements, they also have a great selection of vegan-friendly options available.

La Fregate

La Fregate boasts one of the finest views in Guernsey, overlooking St Peter Port harbour and beyond, and is the perfect location to entertain, or enjoy a quiet table for two. Their Head Chef has created a selection of menus using seasonal and local produce wherever possible. Naturally, there is a predominance of seafood from Guernsey's local waters on the menu, however, what many do not know is, they also offer a full 3 course vegan menu.

The Raw Store

The Raw Store has a small, fresh, homemade menu that changes daily, but always includes a hot vegan dish - usually a curry or stew, a salad or a wrap. You can eat in at one of their small tables, or you can grab a takeaway and head somewhere with a view to enjoy your food.

The Old Government House Hotel and Spa (The OGH)

The OGH can cater to any dietary requirement - just mention it when you book. Set in a spacious and sunny conservatory, or in the private Olive Gardens, overlooking St Peter Port harbour beyond, the whole family can come together to enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a traditional afternoon tea.

Saltwater at Beaucette Marina

This marina-side restaurant offers a menu cooked with local ingredients. They offer a 3 course vegan menu, which varies to suit the season and ingredients available.

China Red

China Red is situated just outside of St Peter Port and has been voted one of the best Chinese restaurants in the UK. Their extensive menu offers a fantastic vegan section that includes appetisers, mains and vegan takes on traditional soups, noodles and rices. As well as their excellent dine in experience, China Red also offer takeaway.

Waffle & Co

Found in Clock Tower next to the Liberation Monument in St Peter Port, you can grab a coffee and a waffle and enjoy the view out over the harbour. There are plenty of vegan options available, from vegan chocolate and ice cream to avocado, vegan cheese and fresh vegetables.

Rosso

Rosso is a traditional Italian restaurant offering a vegan pizza menu. All of the pizzas are freshly made, cooked in the hand-made stone oven - the only one in Guernsey - using both gas and wood. There is  a beautiful wooden bar at Rosso, offering a variety of cocktails and an extensive, handpicked wine list.

The Rockmount

The Rockmount is a gastro-pub overlooking Cobo Bay. As well as classic pub favourites, they offer a vegan menu that includes pizzas, risottos, roasted aubergines, couscous and salads; as well as great starter and desert options.

Oak at Les Rocquettes

Recently refurbished, Oak is located on the outskirts of St Peter Port at Les Rocquettes Hotel. Open for both hotel guests and the public, Oak has an excellent vegetarian and vegan menu.

Cantina Number 6, Alderney

Cantina Number 6 has a relaxed atmosphere with amazing views over Braye Bay. Open for brunch, lunch or dinner, their menu is filled with many tapas dishes to share and boasts a variety of vegan options. They can also adapt small dishes to your taste.

Bacchus, Alderney

Sister restaurant to Cantina Number 6, this Venetian-style wine bar at the top of Victoria Street offers a selection of vegan and gluten free cicheti, pizza and tasty treats, as well as an extensive wine and cocktail list.

Always Ask The Team

Many of our restaurants have incredibly flexible chefs who will be more than happy to adapt a dish for you, or have a vegan menu tucked away, even if it is not advertised.
