Welcome to the Islands of Guernsey.
We are a beautiful archipelago of Islands, with one of the strongest, proudest communities in the world.
Our response to COVID-19 has been recognised around the globe. As a result of strict border controls, and an amazing #GuernseyTogether spirit, 2020 saw Islanders live free of restrictions for most of the year, safe in our Bailiwick Bubble.
Sadly, that meant we couldn’t see you, and we have missed you more than you know. But we now have reason to be cautiously optimistic.
While we are part of the British Isles, we have our own exit from lockdown strategy.
Phase 1 of our exit from lockdown, announced on Fri 16 April, sees the announcement of a series of dates - 23rd April, 14th May and 1st of July – which herald the relaxing of our border restrictions.
We will be re-introducing country and regional categorisation, which will take place in a two-step approach, with the introduction of Category 3 on the 23rd April, followed by Category 2 on the 14th May.
This is great news for those wishing to visit, although it’s important to point out that, even for those coming from a Category 2 departure point, you will need to isolate until you receive a negative test result, which is up to 48 hours.
Phase 2 is hoped to come into effect on 1st July and more information on that will follow.
At this point we anticipate that vaccination rates in the UK, Jersey and the Crown Dependencies will mean no requirement for significant restrictions between them.
We know many of you love our Islands and we have been looking after them while you’ve been away.
While we can't welcome you today, we may be able to see you very soon. When it is safe for us to do so, we will be delighted to greet you, with open arms, to our beautiful Islands home.
The smallest journeys can lead to the biggest adventures.
It’s time to start making plans.
