The Permaculture Garden at Stocks Hotel Sark

The Permaculture Garden at Stocks Hotel Sark was created in 2013 as an extension of the hotel's vegetable gardens. It grows organic vegetables and cut flowers used in the hotel and has become a popular attraction for visitors to Sark. The garden is a productive, largely organic market garden providing various salad materials, seasonal fruits, vegetables, and fresh herbs. We are proud to have won awards for horticultural excellence, contributing to Sark winning in the 2025 Guernsey Britain in Bloom competition. It features a small greenhouse, mature apple trees, and a new cedar greenhouse added in 2019.

Our award-winning gardens focus on organic and permaculture principles. They include raised vegetable beds, a picturesque fruit orchard, a cedar greenhouse, and a flock of chickens producing fresh eggs, plus a beehive. The unique permaculture garden was established in 2013 and provides fresh vegetables and cut flowers. Our gardens have won horticultural excellence awards and contribute to Sark’s growing reputation in gardening. We offer guided garden tours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons at 3pm between April and October, bookable via the Stocks Hotel reception. Our gardening principles and practices include biodynamic growing, companion planting, chicken tractors, and lunar sowing schedules.
