There is so much to see on this walk from ancient monuments, to a shipwreck museum housed in a Martello Tower, vast sandy beaches and an island cut off by the tide.

The beginning of this walk is a loop that takes you through the lanes and around the Pleinmont headland where you will come across a fully-restored German observation tower and La Table Des Pions, known locally as the Fairy Ring, an ancient form of picnic table, also once believed to be the haunt of fairies and the devil. Le Creux es Faies, to be found further on in your walk, is also steeped in folklore and was believed to be the passageway leading to an underground world. It is, in fact, a prehistoric passage grave, built in the Neolithic period.

Lihou Island, at the end of this section of the walk, merits a visit when the tide allows as it is a 'Site of Nature Conservation Importance' and the location of an ancient priory. Hotels offer a more formal opportunity for a meal, for something on the move, stop off at one of the granite-housed beachside cafes that serve up hot and cold drinks, snacks and plenty of local dishes.
