Learn everything about the fascinating history of seaweed in Guernsey and its many uses in cosmetics, farming, cooking and the fashion industry.
This is a hands on learning experience. We will be using seaweed moisturiser and you will have the opportunity to eat multiple types of fresh seaweed straight from the beach all under the guidance of master vraic man and head of Guernsey Seaweed, Ben Tustin.
Requirements: Sturdy boots or wellies as we will be clambering through rock pools down to the low tide point. Also a small bottle of tap water per person.
The Vraic Man: Ben started working with seaweed in 2017 as a fertiliser and then, together with Luke Wheadon, created the world’s first seaweed hand sanitiser in 2020. The seaweed product range now extends into superfoods and vegan leather with multiple additional strands to the business being added all the time. Ben is the only seaweed farmer in
Guernsey and assists seaweed organisations around the world with technical questions relating to biodiversity and sustainability.
Cost: £20 per head with a minimum of 5 people per group.
Tour length: approx. 1.5 hours
