The Fort Hommet Gun Casemate Bunker is a fully restored gun casemate (a structure from which guns are fired) that was constructed on the Vazon Bay Headland by the occupying German forces between 1940 and 1945.

This casemate is one of 21 ‘Fortress’ bunkers built in Guernsey - four were installed here at Fort Hommet. At a low tide it is surrounded by rocks and healthland between the fortress and the mainland, which is why the name is derived from the Guernesiais word houmet, for peninsula.

It is open for visits on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons through the summer. This area is also a popular walking spot, and a good site for spotting birds.
