Ramble Worldwide: Discover Guernsey | Guernsey Guided Walking Holiday
Holiday Highlights
- Walk some of the best stretches of the coast with wonderful clifftop paths and fine views out to sea.
- Stroll the ‘Green Lanes’ through picturesque countryside.
- Immerse yourself in Guernsey’s history from megalithic tombs to the Napoleonic and WW2 defences.
- Step back in time on the Isle of Sark.
Explore the dramatic coast and picturesque interior of Guernsey and another island of the Bailiwick; Sark. The islands lie in the Bay of St Malo and despite loyalty to the British crown since 1066, at only eight miles from the French coast at their nearest point, they inevitably have a ‘taste of France’ as well as a great variety of landscapes, terrains and vistas.
You’ll walk some of the best stretches of the coast, with wonderful cliff-top paths and fine views out to sea. Along the coast are many signs of Guernsey’s history, from the WW2 defences built by the German occupiers to fortifications against Napoleon; right back to Megalithic tombs from 3000-2000BC. There are also artistic sights, such as Renoir’s Viewpoint and Victor Hugo's house. Inland, Guernsey is criss-crossed with ‘Green Lanes’ through picturesque and varied countryside.
Sark, just three miles by one and a half, is a boat ride away, where ‘traffic’ consists of tractors, horses and bicycles. We’ll also get the chance to sample the best this wonderful island has to offer. Take the opportunity to visit Herm Island, even smaller and distinctive, if time allows on your arrival or departure day.
Our hotel is in the well-preserved quaint town of St Peter Port stretching alongside its lovely marina.
