About La Barbarie

Formerly a 16th century priory, La Barbarie has a relaxing country house ambiance, combined with the stylish elegance of a contemporary boutique hotel. While the hotel is sheltered and secluded along a leafy country lane, it’s just a short stroll down to the beach at Saint’s Bay, with easy access to the stunning cliff walks of the southern coast of the island.

The hotel has a heated swimming pool, and the south-facing sun terrace which overlooks it is the perfect spot for morning coffee, a lazy lunch, afternoon tea, cocktails or aperitifs. The restaurant is very popular locally, with a menu which changes seasonally to take advantage of the very best local produce.

La Barbarie is also an excellent base from which to explore the rest of the island of Guernsey, from beautiful beaches, cliffside walks and country rambles, to historic buildings and museums like the German Occupation Museum, Guernsey Folk and Costume Museum, Castle Cornet or Hauteville House – the historic home of Victor Hugo.

Guernsey’s capital, the charming St Peter Port, with its shops, bars, restaurants and its lovely harbour, is a short bus journey from a stop around the corner from the hotel.
