Guernsey Walking Tours: Keith's own family story during the German Occupation
Join Keith Pengelley, a Silver Accredited Guide on his immersive two hour walking tour tracing the story of his grandfather William Henry Pengelley, and the trials his family faced during the German occupation of Guernsey. With stories of battlefield heroics, lost communication, identity cards and silent suffering, visitors will explore the powerful intersection of personal lives and war conflict, all framed by quiet Guernsey lanes and guided narrative.
About Guernsey Walking Tours
Guernsey Walking Tours was formed in 2017 by principle guide Keith Pengelley.
Keith says “Guernsey’s wonderful mix of beautiful landscape and centuries of recorded history is just too good not to show people – I’m immensely proud of the island of my birth and heritage”
Keith has a wide range of tours available on his website but this month, he is focusing on a his "My Family in Wartime" tour.
Tour Information
- Duration: Approximately 2 hours, starting at 14:00.
- Walking difficulty: Graded: Medium – please wear walking boots or stout, waterproof shoes etc.
- Meeting/End Point: St Martins Car Park – opposite Valpys Store.
- Comfort Stop: Only near (5 minutes walk) start and end location.
- Buses: 81, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95 all pass through St Martin’s Village
- Tour Fee: £10.00 per person with a minimum 5 people per group. Discount for group bookings.

Additional Information:
Please dress according to weather conditions and terrain. An umbrella can sometimes be useful. A bottle of drinking water is often advisable.
