These aren’t formal gardens, they are traditional wet-meadow fields, carefully maintained to support a rich diversity of orchids, wildflowers, and wildlife.
What You’ll See:
Four species of orchids: Common Spotted-orchid, Heath Spotted-orchid, Southern Marsh-orchid, and the rare Loose-flowered orchid.
Other wildflowers: Bright Yellow Flag Iris, delicate Ragged-robin, sweetly scented Water Mint, and Cuckooflower, all attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
Invertebrates: Watch for the Common Blue butterfly, Five-spot Burnet moth, and other fascinating insects.
Visitor Information:
Paths are cut around the fields, but the ground can be marshy and uneven. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
Please stay on the paths to protect the delicate plants.
