Join us at a special event that’s taking place in Guernsey’s Market Square, St Peter Port, at lunchtime on Friday 11th April.
Here you will witness the unveiling of a recovered historical plaque that reinforces the strong ties between Guernsey and America.
The plaque will be unveiled at 12.45pm at the new Visitor Information Centre in the Market Buildings by His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor, Lieutenant General Richard Cripwell.
The plaque was originally gifted to the people of Guernsey in 1960 by a group of American friends and commemorates the first arrival of Guernsey cattle in America in 1840. It serves as a tribute to the fortitude of the Guernsey people, particularly during the hardships of the German Occupation during World War II and the decade after.
Here we will raise a toast to our Guernsey breed with fresh Guernsey milk (courtesy of Guernsey Dairy) and at the same time you can meet adorable Guernsey calves from St Catherine’s Farm.
Everyone is welcome!
