Fort Le Marchant
A fort of some description has occupied the site of Fort Le Merchant since around 1680.
The one that stands today was completed in 1805, and was built in response to increasing fears of a French invasion towards the end of the 18th century. A large barracks was also built here in 1854, but have since been demolished.
Please note that a rifle range is located on-site. A red flag indicates that the range is in use.
