Made at Les Rouvets Dairy in the idyllic parish of St Saviours, all of Artisan Cheesemakers' products are made using Guernsey milk from 'La Fleur du Jardin' - believed to be one of the finest in the world.
Yoghurts were added to the range of cheeses in autumn 2024, on the request of a lady Beverley met on the bus!
Les Rouvets Dairy
Make days at the dairy are Thursdays (for the cheeses) and weekends for yogurt. Each cheese is hand-crafted and is suitable for vegetarians - as is each pot of yogurt.
The yoghurts are made to order with full fat pasteurised Guernsey milk, either strained (so it's very thick and creamy) or unstrained.
Please note that the dairy is currently not open for tours or visits.
About the cheeses
Collectively, the cheeses are called 'Caïllebottes et Lait Sur'; Guernsey French for 'curds and whey'. Each cheese has also been named using the island's native language, and offer distinctive flavours and textures:
- Bllu Fromâge
A delicate, soft full-fat cheese made with full-fat milk and with a distinctive vein of Roquefort running through the middle, encased in a downy rind.
- Bllu Fromâge au Saumur
A soft blue cheese made from Guernsey buttermilk and full-fat milk, distinctively tangy with Penicillium roqueforti throughout, wrapped in a downy rind.
- Bllànc Fromâge
Made with full-fat milk, this delicately soft full fat cheese has a distinctive creaminess and velvet rind.
How to enjoy Caïllebottes et Lait Sur
All of the cheese are delicious by themselves, or with Artisan Cheesemaker's handmade crackers.
In addition, both Bllus are a decadent addition to any good steak, while the Bllànc is the perfect accompaniment to roasted vegetables.
