In 2019, VisitGuernsey enjoyed working with TV adventurer and historian Dan Snow who accepted our invitation to be our History Ambassador for 2019.
We're excited to announce that this partnership will continue in 2020 as we look forward to celebrating 75 years of Liberation from German Occupation during World War II.
During his visits in 2019, Dan explored German bunkers, towers and tunnels including the recently rediscovered Rouge Rue tunnels which still contain search lights and several field kitchens surrendered by the Germans when the British re-occupied the Islands at the end of WWII. Dan also travelled across to Alderney - the most northerly of the Channel Islands - where he uncovered one of the British Isles' most important hauls of WWII artefacts in a submerged quarry.
You'll be able to watch and find out more about the discoveries from Dan's visit to The Islands of Guernsey in a brand new documentary. Entitled 'The Islands of Guernsey - The Secrets of Hitler's Island Fortress', the documentary is available to watch on HistoryHit TV - a digital channel described as the 'Netflix of history'
You can discover these secrets for yourself and follow in Dan's footsteps around our Islands with our special itineraries below
