Learn everything about the fascinating history of seaweed in Guernsey and its many uses in cosmetics, farming, cooking and the fashion industry.
This is a hands on learning experience -we will be using seaweed moisturiser and you will have the opportunity to eat multiple types of fresh seaweed straight from the beach. This will be all under the guidance of master Vraic man and head of Guernsey Seaweed, Ben.
The Vraic Man: Ben started working with seaweed in 2017 as a fertiliser and then, together with Luke Wheadon, created the world’s first seaweed hand sanitiser in 2020. The seaweed product range now extends into superfoods and vegan leather with multiple additional strands to the business being added all the time.
Ben is the only seaweed farmer in Guernsey and assists seaweed organisations around the world with technical questions relating to biodiversity and sustainability.
