Take part in this one-hour cruise to see and learn about the German occupation of the island.
Most of the defences built by the occupying German forces between 1940 and 1945 faced out to sea, so a sea cruise gives you the best viewpoint!
This cruise starts with the story of the bombing of the harbour then looks at the significance of Castle Cornet, the Brehon Tower and Fort George before taking a look at Batterie Strassburg on the Jerbourg peninsula then visiting the site of the first commando landing of the war. Continuing along the south coast you’ll get a close look of the M5 army rangefinding tower at Le Prevote, then the site of Batterie Dolmen and the formidable MP4 rangefinder tower, perhaps the best-known structure on the Atlantic Wall. The tour ends at the MP3 tower before returning to St Peter Port.
Your knowledgeable guide will also tell stories about the parts of the occupation you can’t see from a boat.
This tour will be available during multiple dates throughout Heritage75 – dates and timings to be confirmed. Click through to the Island RIB Voyages website using the link on the right and keep an eye out for availability.
