Pleinmont Headland in the country parish of Torteval boasts magnificent views from the southwest. This guided walk with Silver Accredited Tour Guide Andy Walker will take you to Pleinmont’s German defences including gun pits, observation towers, bunkers, tunnels and more. There may be some steep sections during the walk.
See the Pleinmont Observation Tower, a unique five-story naval observation tower which was built and used by German forces from 1942 to 1945, as part of their sea defence system during their occupation of Guernsey in WWII. The original rangefinders are still onsite and in working order. There is also access to a battery dolmen gun-site nearby, with plenty more to discover in the area.
