An exclusive opportunity to join a local born accredited guide on a small group tour visiting some of the most interesting sites depicting this part of Guernsey’s history. During the drive, hear about how the German Occupation affected the guide’s own family, and the unique role that some of them played. You will visit three sites and be provided with a fully guided tour inside the various locations, plus refreshments at the Museum’s Liberation Tearoom.
The tour will commence from the Liberation Monument in St Peter Port, with the first stop at the German Underground Hospital, the largest WWll structure in the Channel Islands. Inside you will be provided with a private tour, where your guide will furnish you with information on the construction and use of the building. The tour will then continue to the German Occupation Museum, considered the best private museum in Guernsey. Here you will see a short film about this period of Guernsey’s history, followed by a guided tour inside.
During this stop, you will be provided with refreshments at the Liberation Tearoom.
Onwards to Pleinmont Gun Batterie, where you will have the opportunity to observe the largest tower built during WWll and view a fully restored 22cm gun within a batterie. Trenches can also be walked through at this stop.
You will then return to St Peter Port.
