Guernsey’s Occupation Trail: The Guided Experience

Join tour guide Soo Wellfair on a walking trail around Guernsey, visiting the thirteen sites which form the ‘Guernsey Occupation Trail’ which was launched in 2019. Each site has a heritage information board to find, which ties each area to the novel, ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’ and occurrences during the German Occupation of WWII.

At each point you will also learn about the history of the area and the lives of people living during the Occupation years. The trail is divided into four walks and each walker will be given a special Occupation Trail Passport, which can be stamped with a unique Heritage75 stamp at each location visited. When your passport is completed, it can be exchanged for a small reward at the Guernsey Information Centre. Locally produced snacks will also be offered on each walk.

Take part in as few or as many walks as you like:

Walk 1 – Monday 4th May – Meeting Point: Liberation Monument 10:00 am
Walk 2 – Wednesday 6th May – Meeting Point: Portelet Kiosk 13:30pm
Walk 3 – Friday 8th May – Meeting Point: German Underground Hospital 10:00 am
Walk 4 – Monday 11th May – Meeting Point – Sausmarez Manor car park (by noticeboard/map) 10:00am
