The new look Guernsey Marathon returns on Sunday 28 March 2021, with its second race in six months, where the original 2020 event date was postponed to October, due to effects of coronavirus. Organisers say that there were “delighted with the feedback on the 2020 Marathon and were proud to have been one of the few marathon events that took place in 2020.
Building on the success of this year’s event, organisers have confirmed that it will again operate multi distance race categories in 2021, to include the Marathon, Mourant Relay Race and Fun Run. Planning of the event is well underway and organisers are working hard behind the scenes to enhance a few areas on the course and event to ensure an even better runner experience in 2021. The course will remain similar in 2021, however organisers are working closely with local authorities and landowners to seek a few small changes around the course where feasible.
Runners can view the interactive course map via the website, which has been kindly designed by the States of Guernsey and Digimap, who specialise in creating software solutions and providing digital maps. The course takes runners around the beautiful coastline of Guernsey, starting and finishing at Castle Pier in St Peter Port. The event will operate under a full license from UK Athletics and the course will be an officially measured distance.
