How to knit a Guernsey

‘Guernseys’ are one of the oldest pieces of knitwear and have been knitted since the 1800s for local fishermen heading out to the cold seas.

Islanders would produce these warm garments for their loved ones if they were going to be away from the island for some time and, today, the tradition has continued through the centuries. Come and learn how to knit Guernsey ribs as you knit a small item incorporating them, or watch the demonstrations.
