When the sun is shining in the Bailiwick, there’s no better way to wind down the day than by eating dinner outdoors with friends!
We’ve previously covered some of our favourite al-fresco eateries in Guernsey, but there’s no need to pay restaurant prices to enjoy dinner outside. Simply pack up a picnic or bring a disposable barbecue, and have a homemade feast!
Just be sure to tidy up after yourselves, in order to keep our beautiful island and surrounding waters clean and safe for fellow visitors, locals and wildlife to enjoy!
Enjoying a barbecue on the beach with friends and family is a summertime essential in Guernsey, and disposable grills are readily available from most of the island’s supermarkets. Stock up on whatever food you like, and head for one of the island’s sandy west coast bays to catch the sunset while you dine; just don’t get too distracted by the views and let your sausages burn!
To keep our beaches safe please avoid bringing glass bottles to your barbecue, and once your evening comes to a close, be sure to tidy up any rubbish and place it in the bins provided.
Another quintessential summer tradition, the picnic is the perfect way to enjoy lunch during a day exploring Guernsey! Bring your blanket and settle down in the picturesque settings of one of the island’s many public gardens or parks, and tuck into sandwiches, snacks and whatever else you please.
Whether you’re picking up a pizza to eat on the pier in town, or enjoying fish and chips under a west coast sunset, there are plenty of outdoor takeaway options in Guernsey. Dinner with a view doesn’t have to be fancy and expensive.
As always, be sure to tidy up after yourself, and refrain from feeding the resident seagulls as they can become quite lively around seaside diners when encouraged!
