Ask the Wedding Celebrant: John Fitzgerald

With forty years of helping couples remember their wedding day with his photography, John has undertaken a new and complimentary role as a Civil Celebrant based within the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

What is your style/approach as a wedding celebrant?

I have always tried to ensure that my clients relax and enjoy their time with me.  I know that the ceremony has solemn and formal parts, but it is also a celebration for the couple and I try and make the occasion as light and meaningful as is possible.

What is your background?

I have been self-employed for my entire working life, following my vocation as a photographer specialising in families and their special occasions.

Do you have a favourite location?

There are some lovely secluded areas around St Martins that I use for my photography which would work very well for the smaller wedding ceremonies.

Your top tip for couples considering the Islands of Guernsey as their wedding destination?

Look for vendors that you feel comfortable with and who will be able to help you achieve what you want on your wedding day.
