As much as it is known for its stunning beaches and cliffscapes, Guernsey also has a widespread reputation for fantastic food. The island punches well above its weight in terms of quality restaurants, and there is something to suit every taste and wallet.
Several delicious new locations have opened in Guernsey over the past twelve months or so – read on to learn about some of our favourite new places to eat!
The latest venture from local hospitality group Randalls is housed in the island’s old slaughterhouse, on St Peter Port’s Castle Pier. The Slaughterhouse is a fashionable and unique venue featuring two outdoor seating areas and bars, as well as an indoor restaurant. As the name would suggest, they serve a whole host of delicious meat dishes, while there are also vegetarian and vegan options on their diverse menu.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Fat Rascal in Lefebvre Street specialises in fuss-free, tasty food with fantastic flavours. Their range of classic British and European dishes features many local ingredients, giving you a real taste of Guernsey! They also offer an extensive range of drinks including several craft beers, and the relaxed environment is the perfect place for a catch-up with friends.
This new restaurant and wine bar is situated at the heart of the Market Square in St Peter Port, specialising in local produce and attentive service. Symposium is decorated in a tasteful yet modern manner, while retaining the heritage of the historic market building. The menu is also sure to delight you, featuring mouthwatering dishes and great wine to match.
This relaxed new restaurant on St George’s Esplanade serves flavoursome and hearty Irish cuisine. From juicy steaks to hearty stews and pies, there are plenty of comforting and tasty dishes on the menu. Just a five-minute walk north of the town centre, The Slaney also boasts a sunny roof terrace, a private dining room and beautiful views out to sea.
