10 Beach Kiosks and Cafes on the Islands of Guernsey

Dotted around our coast you will find traditional beach kiosk huts and more elaborate cafés, serving everything you could need for a day at the beach. Many have benches and places to sit and enjoy your food with a view, or you can take it away and enjoy it down on the sand.

From local treats like Guernsey ice creams, gâché and bean jar to sandwiches, hot meals and even beach toys, you can be sure to find something for everyone at one of these Island gems. You'll find many of the kiosks using local produce wherever possible, so you can be sure that the freshest ingredients have been used.

We’ve collated a list of just 10 of these beach cafés and kiosks on our Islands for you to explore.

Fermain Beach Café - Fermain Bay

Fermain Valley holds one of Guernsey's most beautiful tucked-away beaches and cafés. The pebbly east-coast bay is accessible by cliff path, or by road from Fort Road in St Martin. The internationally-recognised and award-winning Fermain Beach Café is a perfect place to sit and relax with a jug of Pimms in the sun or a bite to eat, whether that be a Guernsey ice cream or one of their delicious, locally sourced sandwiches.

Open daily in the summer (est. April-October), 10am - 6pm.

Saints Bay Kiosk - Saints Bay

This hidden gem is definitely worth discovering. Found down a winding country road, the beach kiosk is situation above the beautiful Saints Bay, boasting spectacular views. They offer a great selection of homemade cakes along with sandwiches, hot food and snacks. They also have an alcohol license, so you can enjoy draught lager, bottled local ale, wine, beer and other alcoholic beverages.

 

Open daily in the summer (est. April-October), 10am - 4pm (lunch served until 3:30pm). 

 

Surfside - Port Soif Bay

A cosy takeaway beach café and tea garden on the west coast of Guernsey. You can take your food and drinks onto the beach below or relax on the colourful benches in the garden. As well as coffee and ice creams, they serve freshly made scones with Guernsey cream, sandwiches, cakes, Guernsey gâché, salads, daily specials and much more. The cafe is also open for functions, such as kids’ parties and barbecues.

Open daily in the summer (est. April-October), 10am - 4pm.

Mim's Kiosk - Cobo Bay

Mim's Kiosk offers a wide range of hot food, including pizza, snacks and drinks - perfect for a lunchtime stop. Mim's has a focus on being local and sustainable. They use local suppliers wherever possible as well as traditional Guernsey hedge veg stores to supply their fruits, vegetables and herbs. You'll even find them serving fresh locally roasted coffee, the granules of which are then composted by The Soil Farm Guernsey after use. Mim's also stocks products from local small businesses for sale at the kiosk.

Open all year round, times may vary (opening hours for the week are posted on their Facebook page).

Grandes Rocques Beach Kiosk - Grandes Rocques Beach

A classic beach kiosk with everything you need for your day by the sea. You'll find a range of refreshments, including ice creams, hot food and fresh Guernsey gâché. There are outdoor benches to sit at and enjoy your food and drink, or you can head to the sandy bay just metres away.

Open daily in the summer (est. April-October), 10am - 6pm.

Portelet Beach Kiosk - Portelet Harbour

For morning coffees, light lunches and afternoon teas, this kiosk offers great food with a view. Their specialities are crab sandwiches and homemade cakes, ideal for trying an authentic Guernsey snack. You will also find everything you need for a family day at the beach, from buckets and spades to deck chairs and beach baskets.

Open daily between the end of March and October, 9:30am - 4:30pm.

Rousse Kiosk - Rousse and Le Grande Havre

This kiosk, located next to Rousse, serves the collection of beaches that make up Le Grande Havre on the west coast. It has a great range of food, serving freshly made sandwiches and baguettes to order with a variety of fillings, including fresh Guernsey crab, along with homemade sausage rolls, quiche, soups and Guernsey bean jar. It is famous locally for its delicious homemade cakes and scones.

Open daily in the summer (est. April-October), 10am - 5pm.

L'Islet Kiosk - L’Islet and Le Grande Havre

Another kiosk serving the beaches that make up Le Grande Havre. L'Islet sells hot food, snacks, ice creams and sundaes with all of the toppings.

Open daily in the summer (est. May-December), 11am - 4pm.

Shell Beach Cafe - Shell Beach, Herm

Shell Beach gets its name from the millions of tiny shell fragments that cover it, washed in from the Gulf Stream. During the summer, you can enjoy a snack from the well-stocked kiosk, serving all kinds of beverages, ice cream and hot dishes. The café has recently been granted an alcohol licence, so you can sit in their garden area with your favourite drink and a fantastic view. 

Open 7 days a week April 1st – September 30th, 9am - 5pm.

Belvoir Bay Beach Cafe - Belvoir Bay, Herm

Found just above Belvoir Bay on the east coast of Herm, this kiosk is well worth the hike. The café has everything you need for a day on the beach, from beach and water toys to food and drinks including ice creams, salads, sandwiches, chips, milkshakes, cakes and pastries.

Open 6 days a week May 1st – September 30th, 9am - 4pm. Closed on Mondays.
