National Trust of Guernsey Folk and Costume Museum

  • NT Folk Museum 2014

Description

Set in a complex of 18th century outbuildings inside Guernsey's largest public park, the Folk and Costume Museum depicts life as it used to be for the Island's population over the last 250 years.  In over 20 rooms the museum tells the story of the people of Guernsey over three centuries through displays of  domestic life, farming, fishing, trades, the tomato industry and transport. A special exhibition programme also runs showcasing new examples each year of items from the Island's most extensive collection of historic costume. The museum is accompanied by a fully stocked traditional gift shop and it shares the park with other attractions including the Victorian Walled Garden Attraction, Saumarez Park's Historic Grounds, a newly refurnished Children's Playground and a Cafe offering a range of refreshments.

In the summer months the museum runs an additional events programme in the cobbled courtyard.
